In recent years, a number of artists have made the move to pop. Like so many of his contemporaries, Apsley left his rock roots behind after dabbling in production. A formally trained drummer, it was an easy transition for the Idaho native, whose repertoire now includes piano, guitar and singing. It’s on his debut single, “Sold,” that he combines these elements to make a sound all his own.
One of forty songs recorded throughout 2016, “Sold” is the first of many offerings Apsley hopes to release over the coming months. An effortless blend of electronic, pop and rock, Apsley is sure to draw early comparisons to Crywolf and EDEN, who’ve both found considerable success with their respective projects. And if “Sold” is anything to go by, Apsley will almost certainly follow in their footsteps.
Speaking of his new single, Apsley had this to say:
“‘Sold’ is a song of realization, realizing that all of the pressures bestowed upon us by culture and society can suffocate us from seeing the truth. Are we truly making our own decisions or are we pressured by the fear to always do the right thing in society’s perspective? Understanding this is our first step to living purposefully, then we can grow to let go of fear and see the truth from our own eyes.”
