Whenever I think of LA garage rock band Cherry Glazerr, I remind myself that so far in my life I really haven’t done much. Lead singer and guitarist Clementine Creevy and drummer Hannah Uribe are still in high school, released an insanely successful debut through Burger Records and have been touring non stop. How the two young members fit school and the life of rock stars beats me–but props to them. The trio’s most recent track “Had Ten Dollaz” drops the band’s previous song topics of lovey dovey crushes and focuses on a vicious, grittier side. With Redman’s blazing guitars, Uribe trashing away on the drums, and Creevy’s lush vocals, it’s a track that exudes sheer confidence and absolute coolness, sometimes sounding like an early-oughts Yeah Yeah Yeahs. The original version of this track, the sprawling, sputtering rattle of its 22-minute predecessor, was recorded in January for Yves Saint Laurent’s “Collection XI.” The edited, revamped single is set to be released as a 7″ through Suicide Squeeze Records on October 28.
