With soft harmonies, busy bass lines and tinkling keys, Crumb satisfies with lush, almost aquatic grooves. Lila Ramani’s unaffectedly clear voice skips and flows elegantly over the self-titled EP. “When I was 16 I learned to sing/but every time I raise my voice inside I feel so tired,” she sings calmly on “So Tired,” before the music overtakes her.
One gets the feeling that Crumb is very much a band of dreamers, able to make even the most ordinary activities, such as riding the train, into unusual experiences to be dissected in song– this is music to live your life to.
