What's This?

Prague-based singer-songwriter Sára Vondrášková, aka Never Sol, is one of your favorite new acts. Her eerie and emotionally-charged dark-pop abstractions are brilliantly conceived, wholly arresting songs. We’re so pleased to premiere the music video for one of Never Sol’s newest efforts, “Roza.” The chilling piano ballad was composed while improvising live–Sára hardly made any changes at all to the final studio cut.

The inspiration behind the video’s simple, yet breathtaking cinematography comes from director Michaela Karásek and his fascination with ‘Vanitas’–Baroque still-life paintings. Over a month, she captured the bloom and decay of flowers, conjuring feelings of mortality and transience, the endless cycle of life. “Roza is a story about letting go very intense and deep relationships and feelings and moving on,” Sára wrote in an email about the video, “Even though it’s not easy.” Watch “Roza” above.

Check out Never Sol’s music video for “Run With the Wolves” and watch her perform tracks live with an orchestra below.
