It doesn’t take more than a few patient moments to realize that Dua Lipa‘s latest single is going to be a big one. In recent months, the London-born singer has burst onto the scene with her enchanting pop sound and dashing good looks. However, up till now, Lipa has walked that fine line between indiedom and mainstream success. But with her new single “Hotter Than Hell,” she may soon cross that divide.
Produced by Stephen “KOZ” Kozmeniuk, the song is Lipa’s strongest offering to date, both sonically and lyrically. With its big, stadium-ready chorus and tropical rhythms, it more than lives up to its name. Of course, through all the glitz and glamour there lies a story of heartbreak and revenge. As if to taunt an old flame, she quips “Does it burn when I’m not there? When you’re by yourself, am I the answer to your prayers?”
