Ellie Goulding – “High For This (The Weeknd Cover)”

It’s unbelievable that two artists so rad would come together, but, then again, doesn’t it make sense? Ellie Goulding’s voice mixed with beatmaster Xaphoon Jones (from Chiddy Bang) makes for a dangerously incredible mix. Put together the two have chemistry, and after tackling the critically-acclaimed track “High For This” by The Weeknd, the two have given the already flawless track, more insoluble flair.

Something that makes a cover interesting is when the artist can take the song, and make it their own. Thus, what Ellie and Xaphoon have done, is make the sound of “High For This” into a completely new song. They concocted a track that’s smooth and easy to listen to and is overflowing with soul — while still retaining the passion and delicateness of the original. It is a great cover of an already great track, and only fuels the fire of Ellie‘s recent success.
