It has finally come that time that we have been eagerly awaiting, for what seems like years. It’s the time that we finally get to hear Frightened Rabbit‘s newest single, one which goes by the title “State Hospital.” Fitting really, as we may need a hospital after all the excitement we’re getting upon the release of this single.

As we mentioned in an earlier post regarding the band’s upcoming, same titled EP, we are major fans of the Scottish quintet. Much like us though, it appears BBC’s Zane Lowe is also a fan as well given he gave the group some first-time airplay on his famed radio show just yesterday.

What starts off on an echoey and open slate, soon takes pace through drum patting and guitar drudges. At the head of it, Scott Hutchison leads with his emotively dripping vocals and heaving chorus line: “All is not lost.” Taintedly beautiful, “State Hospital” plants itself back where Frightened Rabbit left off with harmonious rhythms and gorgeous quilted lyricism. It brings back the Frightened Rabbit that we have come to love, and that can only mean good things for this coming September.
