NYC electronic band GREAT TIME have been putting in work building a studio outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania–entirely by themselves. The group is in the final stages of completing an addition to the recording studio, and bands like altopalo, Space Captain, Ruby My Dear and GREAT TIME have already recorded their music in the new space. But GREAT TIME needs your support. As Jill Ryan aptly states in the band’s Kickstarter video, “If you like listening to music, you should support this project.” With this ambitious venture, the band plan to a build a space where future generations of musicians can work in a functional, comfortable environment in an era where studios are quickly becoming irrelevant.
Watch the full Kickstarter video here, which includes some kick ass drone footage, and read a personal statement by Jill Ryan about the studio below.
Our band, Great Time, has been hard at work over the last 8+ months designing and constructing our very own recording studio by hand, entirely by ourselves. Along with a former employee of the legendary Sigma Sounds, our goal is to create a unique, comfortable recording environment for the next generation of musicians; an all encompassing studio experience that produces results far greater than a typical recording facility. We believe this space will serve as a hub, a breeding ground for both established and up-and-coming talents interested in taking music further than ever before, while breathing new life into our humble Philadelphia suburb.
Check out some live GREAT TIME videos to tide you over before their debut album drops later this year.
