It only takes an instant to capture the attention of an audience, and there is perhaps no greater example of this than HONNE‘s latest single. Dubbed the “Hottest Record in the World” by Annie Mac earlier last night, “Gone Are the Days” is the duo’s grooviest single to date. Like a swift kick to the chest, the opening guitar riff hits you with all the power and spunky energy of an early Prince record. But beneath those bright flashes of guitar is a steady drum beat and a nifty piano rhythm that brings some much-needed balance to the mix.
Speaking about the single with Ms. Mac, the pair said the song is about being able “to move on and find someone who will appreciate you.” During the interview, they also revealed their plans to release a new 7-track EP titled, Gone Are The Days (Shimokita Import), after its lead single. Look out for the EP’s release on January 22nd via Tatemae Recordings/Atlantic Records.
