Hums – “Alaska”
When listening to the first single “Alaska” off of Hums debut release Deep in Swim, one might be lead to believe that the young songstress has an inclination for making soft country-inspired songwriter singles. But, after leaving the single to wade around the 2-minute mark, you will be surprised to learn that there is a cute pop aesthetic behind the Minneapolis native, that is more then just adorable.
Carrying her soft vocals in-front of everything from a pedalled guitar, to violin, to a ukulele, Elise Pfau fills each of her singles with a slightly adjusted character, but, it is the warm presence of “Alaska” that leaves the greatest impact of heartfelt adventure that we can’t help but resist. Lucky for us, it won’t be long until we are able to hear many more like this as Deep in Swim is set to be released this coming Tuesday.
