When it comes to live performances, we often speak of bands connecting with the audience. Never has this connection seemed so effortless though, than with Young the Giant. Following the California outfit’s 10 July performance at Indianapolis’ historic Egyptian Room, I was struck by the band’s sublime balance of energy and intimacy. Sameer Gadhia and company delivered an unyielding combination of stage presence, as I can’t recall a single static moment on stage and musicianship — both traits which are fast-becoming a rarity in today’s live music landscape.
Along with opening act The Apache Relay, Young the Giant delivered one of the best live performances I’ve seen this year, and that’s saying a lot. The band next head to Canada, as they continue their Summer tour, while stopping off at Osheaga in Montreal for the big festival, (which Indie Current will be covering by the way).
