What's This?

New Orleans-based musician and electronic producer Micah Jasper is prepping the self-release of his debut EP SAFARRI. The solo effort (coming between albums from hip-hop-leaning group YUGEN, which Micah plays bass for) features collaborations with vocalists he discovered on SoundCloud, like twin brother duo Mulherin, Raia Was, and Honey Savage

We’re positively stoked to premiere the opening track and newest glimpse of SAFARRI, “The Shore,” a collaboration between Micah and Beijing-born, Brooklyn-based vocalist Yuyu Feng (aka Fishdoll). This stunning, glo-fi dub workout plays like a listless daydream, as Fishdoll’s distorted, serpentine vocals trigger feelings of euphoria. Repurposing the meditative chillwave aesthetic deployed by bands like Neon Indian in the early 2000s, “The Shore” is psychedelic R&B with an ambient touch. Stay tuned for SAFARRI, to be released March 21.
