Described as, “a violent short-lived localized downdraft that creates extreme wind shears at low altitudes and is usually associated with thunderstorms (Merriam-Webster)”, might be a fitting description to characterize what Microburst stands for. But, what posses as a much greater task is, describing the sound that the UK native bumbles out.
In a cross of low-tempo dub, and mirky electronics, Microburst doesn’t have the clearest sound – that’s for sure. And listening to “Killing Fields” is like watching a canvas getting vigorously hurdled with globs of paint, but having an end result of random creativity that only few understand. So, although it may take some listening to fully appreciate this track, behind the outfit there is a sense of mystery within this project, that brings together the intoxication in the movement of rhythms, and somewhat hard to handle grumbly vocals.
