New Navy continue their stellar rise within the Australian music scene with the release of yet another stunning single. Originating from relative obscurity in 2011 they secured top spot in the JD Set competition. Having garnered substantial media attention following this, they have gone on to share stages with Metronomy, Gotye, Cloud Control, Flight Facilities and SBTRKT. And following the recent release of their single “Regular Town,” the future shines brightly for New Navy.
“Regular Town” is a brilliant single which parallels the already released “Zimbabwe” and “Tapioca” which can be found on their debut EP titled Uluwatu. Beginning against the opening backdrop of systematic beats, vocals fill the void early evoking a sense of urgency and pace. Almost immediately afterwards we are introduced to the trademark clean tropical guitar riffs and the structured randomness of drumming which characterise the music of New Navy. The way in which vocals and lyrics intertwine with the melodies is also certainly something to savour.
Highly upbeat and catchy in nature “Regular Town” will be one of the defining tunes of the upcoming Australian summer. Fans are in for a good few months with the Sydney-based band expected to release several more singles in the coming months.
