Los Angeles vocalist Anderson Paak, previously known as Breezy Lovejoy, has worked with a number of artists over the past few years, including Jonwayne, TOKiMONSTA, and Doja Cat, but all these efforts pale in comparison to Paak’s newest project. NxWorries is Anderson Paak and electronic producer Knxwledge, whose records for Stones Throw and contributions to Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly exemplify him as one of the year’s breakout hip-hop producers. The first NxWorries single, “Suede,” is delightfully crass, unquestionably groovy, a heavily syncopated funk break looped to perfection. Never before has Paak’s voice sounded so assured, so acclimated to musical environment it’s interacting with.
