Sigur Rós Perform New Song, “Brennisteinn”

New: Sigur Ros - Brennisteinn

Only a few short days after the band’s break-out album ( ) turned the ripe old age of 10, Sigur Rós took to the Iceland Airwaves Festival to play a live set and premiere a single which is now going under the name, “Brennisteinn.”

While I am not too sure what the actual meaning behind “Brennisteinn” is, I do know that after listening, it could only be a synonym for the word: climactic. Behind Jonsi’s powerful vocals, his screeching guitar, and Orri’s tactful drum patterns, this new single looks to take on a deeper and slightly “harder” sound than those singles on Valtari.

And, thanks to a nicely held camera and a proper mic-set, we are able to watch a live performance in relatively high-quality without any disruptions. However, we can’t help but wonder how it would have sounded to actually be there; I guess we’ll never know, but this video does seem to give us a good idea.
