Sunday night in Austin, Texas was a blur of noise as SXSW started to wind up for a nonstop week of music. Across from the Spotify House on East 6th Street, where the legendary Willie Nelson had just finished a set, local venue Hotel Vegas was quickly crowding with natives and visitors alike.
YOUNG GIRLS, a rock band out of Houston, performed on the inside stage at Hotel Vegas just before 10pm to a packed house. Described by Nylon Magazine as “indie-rock for people who kinda secretly love pop,” YOUNG GIRLS did not disappoint. With a background of tours and shows at venues all over, sets opening for Born Ruffians, and (this is pretty funny) songs featured on MTV’s Teen Mom 2, the collective has the wherewithal to go far.
