Young Romantics – “Forget My Past”

In the past couple of months we’ve been keeping a keen eye on Australian music and acts in Sydney and the surrounding areas. So, when we were recently reached out to by Syndey’s indie-rock four-piece, Young Romantics, we made sure to listen.

Described by the band as “Darkwave,” Young Romantics‘ sound takes hints of Chapel Club‘s cleaner rock sound, and coats it with the harder, more stripped-down rock tones of Interpol. In “Forget My Past” — the band’s latest single — Young Romantics take a smokier approach to their rock sound with grim lyrics, hazy instrumentation and a distant guitar solo. After all is said and done the results are amazing, but then again, having come from Australia, why should we have expected anything less.
