99 SUBLIME is a supremely dope collective of musicians and visual artists based out of the greater NYC area. Two of their most active members, rapper-producer ENxVE the Nameless Vagrant and progressive beatmaker Krakaur, collaborated on a deep, experimental hip-hop joint called “Neighbor.” ENxVE drops a flow vaguely reminiscent of Flying Lotus‘ Captain Murphy alias: low-toned, heady, and hilariously cunning. Using a a subverted trap beat as his foundation, Krakaur tricks out the production with a dizzying array of electronic oddities. Their chemistry is unreal. “Neighbor” will be featured on Krakaur’s forthcoming self-titled album. It’s the only track with a feature on eleven-track full-length, an instrumental IDM record in the tradition of Shlohmo and Nosaj Thing.
Krakaur is out September 30 via Youngbloods. Stream “Neighbor”:
