It’s been some time since we heard from Ann Arbor’s Jonathan Visger, aka Absofacto, so it was rather surprising when Visger himself contacted us seemingly out of the blue. If you sift through our archives you’ll find Visger’s name somewhere next to a ghoulish little song called, “Kiko (103 Words).” But as much as we enjoy that song, we’re happy to see this talented multi-instrumentalist trade in the ghostly imagery for something a little easier on the ears.
With his latest release, “Dissolve,” Visger tinkers with his existing setup, borrowing production techniques from his good friends Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.. At certain points, you can even hear hints of his side-project Hollow & Akimb, but ultimately, it’s his exploration of the weird and wonderful that has us hooked on this colourful little ditty. So, if you’ve got a penchant for charming pop songs (and who doesn’t these days?), I suggest you cop yourself a download of “Dissolve” [here].
