Philly’s golden-boy Alex G had a stellar 2014 following the release of his breakthrough record, DSU, that propelled him into the limelight. After touring throughout the UK and being mentioned on basically every major music site, Alex is finally looking like he’s getting the attention he’s long deserved. He has a great back catalogue, as well, which helped catch the attention of UK-based label, Lucky Number, who are reissuing two Bandcamp-exclusive records: Trick and Rules. Any diehard Alex G fan knows how important these two records are in the G man’s discography. With this joyous news, he’s dropped an unreleased track entitled “Sarah” that, until now, could only be found on mix CDs, Tumblr and fan-made YouTube videos.
FADER premiered the track, and in that post, Alex reveals that he wrote the song around 2012 during the release of Trick. “Sarah” maintains the simple but sweet style that many have come to love from the bedroom producer, including the wonky vibe, the cheerful melodies and the gut-wrenching lyrics: “Every day, I’ll make promises that plague Sarah’s heart so I can watch her fall apart.” It stings, but in the best possible way.
