What's This?

Los Angeles avant-pop duo Annabel (lee) compose “mood music”–graceful blues melodies over deeply meditative folk rock hallucinations–like the picturesque songs of Nick Drake, Jessica Pratt and Kadja Bonet. Annabel (lee)’s thrilling debut album dropped two years back on Ninja Tune, but for the follow-up they’ve tapped Youngbloods, a talent-stacked independent label on the rise.

The Cleansing is a thoroughly perplexing record, serene in its substance and oftentimes sublime, but always hinting toward the eerie and unnerving. We’re extremely happy to premiere the band’s newest effort, “Far,” one of our favorite tracks from Annabel (lee)’s beautiful forthcoming album. Listen below.

The Cleansing is out September 22 on Youngbloods.

Check to “Invisible Barriers” off Annabel (lee)’s 2015 Ninja Tune LP, By the Sea… and Other Solitary Places.
