What's This?

Ben Khan has been burning up a hole in the blogosphere since he released his spectacular debut EP, 1992, last year. Hoping to replicate its success, Khan will release his follow-up EP, 1000, on May 11th via Blessed Vice. Today, Khan shared the EP’s second cut, “Zenith,” on FADER. According to the producer himself, the song is about “A superhero [who] goes to die by lying on the sun. Ashamed of what he has done, he begs his love for forgiveness so he can return. But his fate is sealed, and he slowly burns to death.” While dark, the song perfectly captures this narrative, fusing Khan’s pitch-shifted vocals with funky guitars lines and metallic synths. Like the rest of his singles, it’s brilliantly complex despite stopping short of three minutes.
