A couple of years ago, Two Inch Punch and super-producer Benny Blanco had everyone fooled when they led us to believe that their mysterious new collaborative project, BenZel, was the upstart of two 16 year-old Japanese students by the name of Umi Takahashi and Yoko Watanabe. As we later learned, this was all a rouse. But as a show of good faith, the duo made their presence known this June when they dropped off their second spectacular production for fellow Brit, Jessie Ware. Now that the dust has settled, the pair bring us a compelling new slow-burner, “Wasted Love.”
Stevie Neale, the vocalist who lends her steamy vocals to this track, shares a strikingly similar tone to that of BenZel‘s former collaborator. Her rich melodies and balmy vocal runs do wonders for the spacious production, which is somewhat surprising when you listen to her heavy-hitting debut single, “Dangerous.” Nevertheless, we expect this latest collaboration will shine the spotlight back in Neale‘s direction.
