Carlos Hernandez (aka Carlos Truly) spent the better part of the last decade shedding wood with various punk and noise projects, most notably as the band leader for indie supergroup Ava Luna. But in 2018, seeking inspiration beyond the art rock and post-punk sensibilities of NYC’s yesteryear, Carlos Truly self-released On Folly. The ten-track album veers toward experimental R&B and slinky, soulful tunes, highlighting Carlos’ crooning charisma as a soloist.
We’re overjoyed to announce that Carlos Truly is now signed to Bayonet Records (home to Taphari, Beach Fossils, and Lionlimb)! And we’re joining him in celebrating the moment with a live video premiere of On Folly-cut “Nausea”, featuring background vocals from Elysee (she’s been on our radar for the last five years) and Bayonet’s own label manager Stefanie Santana. Watch the new, self-directed visual offering from Carlos Truly above, and keep your ears peeled for his next move via Bayonet later this year.
Don’t miss Carlos Truly’s 2020 Canal EP, co-produced with Tony Seltzer.
