I’m not going to lie, the wounds haven’t yet healed after two years of disbandment between Christopher Owens and Chet “JR” White’s band, Girls. White has remained quiet, but Owens, on the other hand, has still been musically active. Last year, Owens released his successful debut album, Lysander, and has now returned with “It Comes Back To You.” While the new single sounds like it could have been off Father, Son, Holy Ghost, it still maintains an air of “freshness.” It is evident that Owens‘ songwriting skills haven’t departed him, either; “It Comes Back To You” is full of heartbreak and emotion. What’s more, you can hear a hint of blues, gospel twang, and tenderness lining this affectionate little ballad. While Owens stated that the song was off of a new album he made with some “dear friends,” no details have been released on the record, as of yet. Fingers crossed, those details will surface sometime soon.
