What's This?

Early last year, we saw one of the best pairings in recent memory come together. That pairing, as you may recall, consisted of two of hip-hop’s most well-respected names: Shlohmo and Jeremih. Shlohmo, an LA producer with a great deal of hip-hop-oriented remixes under his belt, joined forces with R&B heavyweight Jeremih in what was arguably one of the best singles of the year, “Bo Peep (Do U Right).” The eerie, clandestine production saw both acts brushing the dirt off their shoulders and flexing their hypothetical muscles, showing us just how dangerous this pairing could actually be.

Seeing as their first collaboration was so well-received, the two have joined forces once again—and it doesn’t look like they’ve adjusted their near-perfect formulae. For the sake of consistency, Shlohmo has provided a robust, bass-heavy production that highlights Jeremih‘s haunting falsetto and brash attitude. The interplay becomes most apparent when—between a slinky, arpeggiated beat and a thumping bassline—Jeremih swerves into the production, tacking on his simple, vacillating vocals. So, if either of these magnetizing singles are any indicator of what’s to come from these two, you can expect to hear a lot more of them in the coming year.
