It’s been far too long since SBTRKT has released a proper single. Though the producer has had some of his new material leaked through unnamed sources, he has managed to keep most of it under wraps. Having withheld new music for almost a year now, though, Aaron Jerome has finally decided to let loose a remix of his. If you’re not an avid follower of Drake, you might not have known this was an edit of his single, “Girls Love Beyoncé.” Understandably, though, nothing of this washy remix resembles that of the original.
Throughout the intro, this remix remains relatively sparse. Aside from a crystal clear piano lick and some ghostly echoes, there isn’t really much to lose you knickers over. Once it hits the thirty second mark, however, things really begin to take shape. At this point, SBTRKT takes things up a notch by infusing the track with a collection of heavy, disparate beats and fluid vocal samples. What was once filled James Fauntleroy‘s luscious crooning, has now been replaced by a smooth, stretched out synth arrangement.
