What's This?

Rising solo artist Emily Nichols first introduced herself to us as frontwoman and vocalist of Chicago’s premiere progressive funk ensemble, Woo Park. Previously, we premiered the release of her feature on the electro dance number, “Say It Again,” by the Outsiders. Now we’re excited to premiere her debut solo single, the surreptitious crawl of “Strange.” With the help of Paul Norman, the soul-savvy songwriter tries her hand at producing on the spare, haunting pop mantra. It’s a striking first effort that evokes the jazz-sensible avant-pop of artists like Björk and Georgia Anne Muldrow. Stream “Strange” below.
