Flume - Intro (feat. Stalley)

In case you missed the news earlier this month, Flume is currently in the process of releasing a deluxe edition of his self-titled debut LP. So far, Streten has revealed that the package will include a collection of remixes, a tour documentary, and a producer disk featuring Abelton Live software. While this is great and all, it appears that Streten has been holdin’ onto the most exciting news of all. In addition to Freddie Gibbs (whose collaboration we already featured), the album’s accompanying mixtape will include names like How to Dress Well, Twin ShadowGhostface KillahKiller Mike, and Autre Ne Veut, just to name a few. If that wasn’t enough to pique your interest, then you might want to take your head out of the sand and listen to his killer new single, “Intro (feat. Stalley).”

Here, Streten is found indulging in his true passion: hip-hop. Things begin simply enough with a stretch of bouncing beats and signature vocal samples. It’s not until the 1:35 mark, though, that things really begin to takeoff. At this point, Ohio’s young up-and-comer Stalley drops down some bars at a truly rapid fire pace. As he weaves in-between the deep, pounding backdrop, he gifts us with his incredible strength and finesse, planting himself right in the heat of it all. The funny thing is, he doesn’t sound at all out of place. But then again, Flume‘s music was always made for hip-hop, wasn’t it?
