Stephen Ellison has already gifted us with two tracks from his hotly anticipated fifth LP: the Herbie Hancock and Thundercat collaboration, “Moment of Hesitation” and the infectious whir of “Never Catch Me” featuring Kendrick Lamar. This third offering, which comes in the form of “Coronus, The Terminator,” (once again with its own personalized art work) is a slew of psychedelic neo-soul, and the first in which Flylo sings. It opens to a mass of reversed reverb and faint, woozy cooing which leaves one punch drunk and plodding to its astral grooves. There cues its thick, entrancing beat; bleary-eyed handclaps on a syrupy-slack tempo and dreamy theatrics. It’s once again a dense study. You’re Dead! is out Oct 7th via Warp.
