To be frank, I’m not all that big a fan of Four Tet. While I appreciate his style and creation process, I haven’t ever really been able to dig my teeth into a Four Tet track and feel all that satisfied. “Unspoken,” however, is a bit of a different story.
While the single takes the usual ‘Tet song structure and flow, the sampling and cohesive application of sounds clips is frankly astonishing. Incorporating broken drum patterns with bells, chimes and a lavish piano line is one thing, but melding together Middle Eastern tribal samples is certainly another. So, while I’ve never been a huge fan of Four Tet‘s music, at least now I will have a much better appreciation for it.
