One of the most undervalued producers in the hip-hop game at the moment, Deebs, has consistently shown his penchant for the subdued. Rarely wavering, the Toronto-born producer has released an abundance of floor-rippling remixes over the last two years—a few of which have been tagged as “official.” His enterprising flips of AlunaGeorge and Sampha are notable standouts, while his most recent, trap-leaning effort makes for a very obvious addition to that list.
Using Future‘s impassioned love ballad, “I Won,” as his canvas, Deebs quickly finds his feet after stripping away the original production. For the first half of this remix, he cuts in and out of the bassline, dampening ‘Ye‘s verse while lifting Future‘s above the fat beats. In the second half, he sends a barrage of trap stylings Future‘s way, which the rapper-turned-amorist just narrowly avoids.
