Foo Fighters‘ late-90s rock anthem, “Learn to Fly,” has always held a special place in my heart. It was one of the first songs I had heard from the band, but more importantly, it was my first real taste of rock music. So, to see the song that shaped my childhood years completely transformed was not something I was about to openly accept. That being said, I’ll be the first one to admit when I’m wrong, and this just so happens to be the case.
In lieu of his performance at Neon Gold’s upcoming showcase in New York, Gallant has shared his rendition of Foo Fighter’s classic hit. While we’ve yet to feature this enigmatic figure on these walls, it’s easy to see what all the buzz is about. Both a producer and a songwriter, Gallant knows how to capture the attention of listeners with this breathtaking vocals and unique style of production. Here, his soulful voice soars over a simple piano melody and thundering tribal drums, no easy task when you’re hitting those high notes.
