For Gold Panda‘s newest music video “In My Car,” the second track from his forthcoming LP Good Luck and Do Your Best, the English electronic musician asked director Rob Brandon to capture a rather unorthodox vision: Gold Panda spending some quality time with his grandmother in their hometown of Chelmsford, Essex. What might seem like a lame concept is executed with a kind of lightness and ease, a subtle display of genuine affection and love. It’s just the cutest. If this doesn’t make your heart swell, nothing will.
Read a statement from Gold Panda about the video:
I asked Rob to just come and film us (my gran and I) being boring. But now, when I watch it back, it doesn’t seem mundane at all. It seems actually really nice and sweet. I was thinking about all this cool stuff we could do, slow-mo shots, what outfit I could wear, maybe an explosion and who could be in my crew. But real life is exciting enough; you just don’t see it when you’re in it.”
Good Luck and Do Your Best is out May 27 on City Slang.
