This past weekend, I descended upon the small Ontario town of Oro-Medonte (about an hour drive north of Toronto) along with 35,000 other sweaty and sleep-deprived festival-goers to witness the unveiling of the province’s latest and great musical offering, WayHome. While I spent the large majority of the festival baking in the hot sun and looking for the nearest water station, I did manage to catch a glimpse of some of my favourite artists, including ODESZA.
The pair put on one of the weekend’s finest performances, with an impressive setlist and an outstanding light show to top it all off. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, the duo unleashed their emotionally-charged new remix of Hayden James‘ “Something About You.” Equal parts uplifting and danceable, it had more than a few people in the crowd caught in euphoria, a feeling that was shared by myself. Between James’ simple, understated vocals and the wide variety of drums, this proves to be one of ODESZA’s strongest remixes to date.
