Information about France’s mysterious new soul-pop outfit, Her, is rather scarce, but that hasn’t stopped the band from grabbing the collective attention of the blog world. Their first single “Quite Like” was a spunky, soul offering that’s effectively become our go-to slow-jam. Warm keys, svelte vocals and a taut bassline—it’s quite the heady offering. But if their latest single is anything to go by, it may soon be replaced.
With “Five Minutes,” Her take a big, 8.5 x 11 page out of Jungle‘s book. The song begins with a simple bassline and a few well-placed finger snaps, but slowly evolves into a groovy pop song that revolves around one very suggestive refrain “all I need is five minutes.” Their approach is simple and mysterious, but that’s just what a song like this calls for.
