What's This?

Electronic producer and singer-songwriter Jessy Lanza is getting ready to drop her exceptionally dope LP Oh No via Hyperdub. She’s continued to work with longtime collaborator Jeremy Greenspan (one-half of the Junior Boys), which might explain why so many of the signature synth sounds and sonic textures have been preserved from her fantastic Pull My Hair Back album. The overall mood, however, couldn’t be further from the deeply intimate bedroom vibes of her 2013 debut. On Oh No, as with lead singles “It Means I Love You” and “VV Violence,” Jessy Lanza explores a happy, more hopeful range of sounds and themes that ultimately make her music more fun to listen to (ironic, considering the new album was inspired by personal anxiety and botanical home remedies).

Stream “VV Violence” and get Oh No on May 13.

Watch Jessy Lanza perform “It Means I Love You” for Resident Advisor.
