Few artists have seen their star rise as quickly as London’s JONES, but given the strength of her debut single (or the two songs that followed it), this shouldn’t come as a surprise. Having worked with some of the industry’s most in-demand producers, including Raffertie, XL Recordings’ in-house producer Rodaigh McDonald (The xx, King Krule, How To Dress Well) and Jai Paul‘s slightly less elusive brother, A.K. Paul, we’ve seen the singer move from strength to strength. Today, JONES returns with a surging new single, produced by fellow up-and-comer, XO. The song, entitled “Hoops,” is the singer’s most ambitious release to date. With her silky smooth voice leading the push, JONES rides a delicate guitar riff through a maze of swerving synths and turbulent beats.
If you like what you hear, be on the lookout for JONES’ forthcoming debut album, New Skin, which is due for release next spring, via 37 Adventures.
