If you’ve been following the latest hype at Coachella, you’ll know that Kygo recently roused the crowd with a stunning set. It threw the festival-goers in an electronic music frenzy with a live vocalist and a free giveaway of USB’s chock full of tropical-house tunes. One of the tracks featured on the distributed USB’s was a soon-to-be-released collaboration with Dillon Francis titled “Coming Over,” which features the vocals of James Hersey. Francis was less than enthused about the track freebies, however, as “Coming Over” was set to appear on his forthcoming EP. Francis responded with a now-deleted tweet, which read “Next time you throw out USB’s with a song on them don’t throw out ones that have our song that’s supposed to be on my EP”.
Scrimmage aside, “Coming Over” is a perfect poolside summer tune, with a simmering downtempo beat and a smooth tropical-house sound. The track blends the best of both Kygo and Francis’ talents, providing us with a laid-back, electro jam. The crooning vocals of Australian up-and-comer Hersey flow seamlessly over the beat, and only serve to enrich the track. It may be a bit more toned-down than the EDM cuts we’ve come to expect for festival season, but nevertheless, “Coming Over” is a surefire hit that is sure to feature on countless playlists in the months to come. Watch James Hersey perform a solo rendition of “Coming Over” below.
