What's This?

Leon Bridges has been touted as one of the biggest names to watch out for in 2015 by us and just about every other blog worth its salt. However, since signing to Columbia Records at the tail end of 2014, Bridges has remained relatively quite. With the release of “Lisa Sawyer,” Bridges makes his return with an endearing soul ballad that’ll have your hips swaying until they can’t sway no more.

Like his previous releases, “Lisa Sawyer” was recorded live at Niles City Sound studio in Fort Worth using only vintage equipment, lending it an authentic quality that you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else these days. In the background, you can hear the swell of an organ and the richness of a saxophone, but the heart of this song is of course Bridges’ tender vocals. Joining him are a group of doo-wop vocalists who sing sweet nothings into the microphone and paint the image of a dimly-lit Southern bar. Listen below.
