What's This?

South London musician Louis Milburn earned his stripes playing guitar in Oscar‘s live band. He’s since released a single under the pseudonym Lou E via Beech Coma, an acoustic crawl titled “What Do You Do It For?” The single’s B-side “Next Time” is accompanied by a delightful lyric video featuring drawings meticulously assembled in stop-motion and what we suspect to be Mr. Milburn’s head, and occasionally his mouth, flashing to the fore, mimicking the words. “Next Time” possesses a Syd Barrett-esque quality honouring the great The Madcap Laughs, its rough-hewn appeal augmented by a subtle lead guitar and concealed percussive motion. It’s available [here] via Beech Coma. And for those yet to hear Oscar, check out the video below for “Sometimes,” from the band’s forthcoming debut album, Cut & Paste, out May 13th on Wichita.
