What's This?

I don’t know much about Murkage Dave, but I can tell you this: he’s got some serious potential. While you may not have heard his name before, there’s a small chance you’ve heard his music; or, at least that of his former hip-hop crew. Known for his high-energy performances and mystical beard, the British rapper-turned-crooner made a name for himself in neighbouring France as the frontman of Murkage. Although he confesses to making “zero cash” from the project, he seems to have walked away with plenty of stories to tell.

On his solo debut, D.A.V.E. – Part 1, he tackles subjects like love, deception, and, amongst other things, eating wings on the Turkish border. Produced by fellow Londoner UsedTo, the EP is an eclectic mix of hip-hop, R&B and IDM. More importantly, it’s our first real taste of Dave’s singing voice. With lead single “Car Bomb,” he glides across a smooth, guitar-led beat like a seasoned professional. Beautiful yet restrained, it makes you wonder where his voice has been all this time.

Watch the video for “Car Bomb” above and stream the rest of D.A.V.E. – Part 1 below.
