We are incredibly hyped to premiere No Chokehold From Gravity, the new EP from NYC electronic producer GLZDES. His unpredictable, amorphous style of beat music can be intense, disruptive and chaotic, but it also pulls from the grace and ease of R&B and jazz. We first met Zach Berns, aka GLZDES, laying out some serious heat for Poetic Thrust as their drummer. That same fiery rhythmic intuition makes its way to Zach’s music as GLZDES. Played aloud on proper speakers, the darkly dreaming club productions of No Chokehold From Gravity rattle and rage through your torso like a chest cold.
Opener “Spread” is the EP’s friendliest beast. Serpentine synthesizer melodies unravel around polyrhythmic trap beats for the first 50 seconds before chaos fully ensues. Unlike the guest features on last year’s VISCERAL, No Chokehold From Gravity is a strictly solo affair. The four tracks appear in ecstatic, two-minute bursts, like a mini-mixtape meant to confound and distort the mundanity of reality.
