By this point, the hype surrounding ODESZA‘s sophomore album, In Return, is reaching a feverish pitch. About a month ago, the duo rolled out a glistening electronic number entitled, “Memories That You Call,” and sixth months prior to that, they shared their biggest and most enterprising release to date, “Sun Models.” According to a recent press release, both singles will be included on their highly-anticipated album. But their newest single, “Say My Name,” leads me to believe their best is yet to come!
During their recent trip through Canada, I had a chance to check out the pair perform at Osheaga, and I can confidently tell you these two put on a spectacular performance; of course, it might’ve helped that they had crowd-pleasing numbers like this to parade around. “Say My Name” is one of the finest examples of their work yet, thanks in large part to Zyra—a recent addition to ODESZA’s growing list of collaborators.
Without a song to her name, Zyra makes an incredible first impression with her bright and bubbly vocals. Madelyn Grant, one of the pair’s earlier collaborators, also makes her way into the picture—but only to supplement her fellow femme fatale. All I can say is, if the remaining tracks on In Return are up to the same calibre as this, we may be looking at one of the best albums of the year!
