Oh Wonder have become something of a heavyweight in only a few months, consistently creating compelling content. Their latest release, “Technicolour Beat,” is the pair’s seventh single in a string of thirteen that will round up this September. If you’ve listened to any of the duo’s previous material, it should come as no surprise that “Technicolour Beat” is beautifully simple—not only in terms of instrumentation, but also lyrically. When the pair sing lines like, “You and me / Caught up in a dream / In a technicolour beat,” there’s a sense of elegance and conviction that few other bands have been able to replicate. Although the song is stylistically very similar to their earlier releases, it’s hard to argue with perfection.
