Montreal electronic producer Ouri has been dishing out the goods this year–first via her own debut full-length album, Superficial, and then with a production credit on Forever‘s new upbeat comeback single “Falling”. Ouri’s latest feat is a collaborative EP with R&B vocalist Mind Bath. The three-track record is a dazzling, utterly captivating synthesis that brazenly toes the line between experimental bedroom pop and late-night dance music.
Ouri and Mind Bath have collaborated on extramusical projects in the past, so this brief but exceptional body of work feels like a natural extension of each individual’s solo material. Despite this familiarity, the EP hardly plays it safe. The roiling, meditative drive of title track “Wild Mother” is a prime example of how they push each other to create some of their best work so far.
