What's This?

Every time Pablo Nouvelle passes a blissful new track out of the pearly gates of Switzerland it feels like we’re experiencing euphoria for the very first time. So far, his dazzling productions have been nothing short of perfection. Tracks like “You Do Me Wrong” and “Be True To Me” have given Friedli a platform to belt out his soulful endeavours as a slow, 1960s Motown beat kicks in the background. With the “boom” and “bap” of hip-hop, the warm croon of soul music, and the crackling of an un-synced record, Friedli will have you feeling like you’ve be transported back to another era in no time at all.

So, to keep the good vibes coming, Nouvelle has dished out another lilting production. With the support of THUMP, Nouvelle has given us something to find solace in during these cold winter months—and as always, that “something” requires the help of our main man Marvin Gaye. For this soft new single, the vocals have been plucked out of Gaye‘s wondrous soul ballad “What’s Going On,” while the instrumentation is almost entirely provided by Frideli. Everything is gorgeously placed, as well: rich guitar riff are intertwined between a chilling layer of electronics and a broken bassline, while a strong drum kick presses onward. In short, it’s a mesmerizing production that really soothes the soul.
