What's This?

Oberlin, Ohio’s experimental pop outfit Peaks struck a very alluring chord back in March, when Stereocure unveiled the final track of their forthcoming EP, “HappyDie,” on the third volume of the label’s compilation series. The lead single and opening track to their happydie EP, “Slumberland,” showcases an opposing state of emotions, a crisp progression of blithe melodies and sun-soaked guitar riffs. Everything about this track is a definitive counterpoint to “HappyDie”‘s gloomy atmospherics, from its swirling harp arpeggios to its jovial, split vocal hooks. It’s a gorgeous number that proves Peaks have more than a few tricks tucked away to keep us on our toes.

Stream “Slumberland” below and pre-order the happydie EP [here].
