What's This?

Just a few weeks ago we premiered “When the Time Comes,” a frenzied and boisterous new track from up-and-coming artist/producer KRANE. This time around his uncontainable, swaggering suaveness is channeled through the lens of fellow San Franciscan, on-the-rise artist P.ortra.it. This premiered collaboration, titled “Yours To Take,” starts slow and anticipatory, textured with bass-stricken synths and sensuous inhales. The melody hardly lingers in lethargy, however, before unfurling as clattering, drum-shuffling, piston-motioned delirium. A faint, corkscrewed vocal sample meanders against the heady and often calamitous breaks, a soft touchstone to gravitate towards among all the fantastical ensuing madness. The rhythm is maintained by an accentuated snare, syncopated by a puzzling array of quasi-melodic drum pads and salient snaps. It’s startling how well KRANE and P.ortra.it compliment one another’s stylistic strong suits, synthesizing a solitary form of electro-pop and R&B-tinged dub, reppin’ the Bay area well. Download this out of control collaboration here, and check out the P.ortra.it edit of KRANE‘s “When the Time Comes” below:
